Hello Friends and Supporters,

We realize that everyone in our community is currently being impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic in one way or another. We want you to know that we are thinking of you and your loved ones.

We commend all of you for taking precautions (many of which we have learned about via word of mouth, email or social media) to keep our community healthy and safe.

In the coming days, you will be seeing more communications from SNMH Foundation. People have indicated they would like regular updates from us and our hospital.

As of this morning (3/17), there have been no confirmed cases of Covid-19 in western Nevada County. There is one confirmed case in eastern Nevada County (Truckee area) and that person is in self-quarantine.

For current, local Covid-19 updates, please visit www.mynevadacounty.com/2924/Coronavirus.

Please continue reading for some more important Covid-19 updates.

Drive-through Covid-19 testing now at SNMH

Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital will begin drive-through Covid-19 testing from 3:00-6:00 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday (3/17 & 3/18).

If you are symptomatic and meet criteria for testing, Nevada County residents should call their primary care doctor. If the doctor agrees that an individual needs to be tested, the doctor can fax an order to the hospital.

Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital will call the patient to set up an appointment drive-through time. Please do not attempt to go to the testing drive-through without a previously set-up appointment.

Staying at home?

For those of you staying at home, we have compiled a short list of things to do to keep entertained. Please read below for some healthy tips from USA Today:

1. Complete a puzzle: The more pieces the better! Feeling extra saucy? Take on a Rubik's Cube. More of a word person? Crossword puzzle!

2. Start a journal or blog. Sure, it can be about the coronavirus, but it could also be about a specific interest from chess to cheese.

3. If it won't bother your neighbors: Dust off that old instrument and practice.

4. Write poetry. Perhaps you can craft a haiku for Mother's Day, or something without a specific structure. Just try it!

5. Watch all the really long movies you’ve avoided until now

You can learn about an additional 95 things to do here (although we do not recommend texting any exes).

SNMHF Martinis & A Movie has been postponed

Dear Martinis & A Movie Guests and Contributors,

At Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Foundation our community's health is our number one priority. As such, we have made the decision to postpone our April 1 event, Martinis & A Movie.

After careful consideration and knowing that SNMH Foundation's core lies in keeping our community happy and healthy, we felt it was necessary to follow policies laid out by California and national public health officials.

We are in touch with Sierra Cinemas and will be working together to find a new date for the event. All tickets purchased will be honored and the proceeds are still slated to go toward purchasing vital equipment and technology for our Family Birth Center at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital.

We are incredibly grateful to the healthcare workers and staff at the hospital, the county and in the community who are working relentlessly. Their dedication and commitment during this uncertain time is commendable.

Thank you for your patience and generosity during this difficult times.

Thank you and please be well.
