Major Gift Director

Under the direction of the Executive Director and in collaboration with the Fund Development Team, the Major Gift Director is accountable for successfully cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual donors of $1,000 and more with a focus on major gifts of $10,000+ through relationship building and strategic prospect planning techniques. This position will manage a portfolio of approximately 150 donors. Personal solicitations are typically specific for capital improvement projects, advanced technology, and programmatic needs.

The Major Gift Director will be charged with developing and maintaining excellent, and authentic, relationships with donors and prospects through personal visits, phone calls, patient visits, hospital tours, donor engagement events, targeted messaging and other appropriate cultivation, solicitation and stewardship techniques. The ideal person will enjoy working in a supportive, positive, mission driven, professional office environment and in a small community filled with dedicated donors and volunteers.

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, CFRE preferred not required

Experience: The ideal candidate will have five years of nonprofit fundraising experience, healthcare philanthropy experience is a plus but not required. 

Skills and Knowledge:

Interpersonal communication skills with the ability to build relationships and earn donor trust, self-confidence and assertiveness, teamwork, good judgment, and respect for confidentiality

Sophisticated understanding of, and experience with, all aspects of individual donors funding including prospect management and charitable giving vehicles. Understand that our relationship building process is a marathon and not a sprint

Able to establish authentic interpersonal relationships with donors, board members, development staff, senior leadership and physicians

Working knowledge of a constituent management database and prospect planning ideal

Working knowledge of Google Workspace a plus

Written and oral communication skills

Organization skills and attention to detail

Job Status: Full-Time, salaried, exempt. Some nights and weekends for donor events. Excellent employer paid health benefits and retirement contributions

Salary: $65,000
