Finding Your Roots

Featuring Susan Rogers

Tempted to research your family tree after watching those TV shows where celebrities find their ancestors? Local genealogist Susan Rogers will walk us through the changing landscape of genealogy research for non-professionals, including what is now available for researching online. Beginners will learn what it takes to get started, while those who have already looked into their family history will gain some new perspectives on how to move forward. She will also debunk some popular misconceptions about using DNA testing to determine your ethnic origins.

Susan Rogers is an experienced presenter and member of the Nevada County Genealogical Society and the Grass Roots Genealogy Group. Her research has enabled her to identify and meet third cousins in County Armagh, Northern Ireland as well as distant cousins in Wolfstein, Germany.
