Our Areas of Greatest Need
The SNMH Foundation Board of Directors utilize these resources to promptly respond to the current year’s most pressing financial needs. In the past, "Area of Greatest Need" gifts have supported Lifeline, the Wellness Center, the Women and Infant Care Unit as well as funding to support the recruitment and retention of physicians. Funding has also been directed toward the purchase of special equipment and continuing education for nurses and clinical staff.
Sierra Nevada Family Medicine Residency Program
Creating a postgraduate medical education program in our rural community will help to increase access to care, support health equity, create a pipeline for new family practice physicians locally, and help to solve a real community healthcare problem. In 2023 we matched with our first two residents and by 2025 we will have six residents training in Western Nevada County.
Women and Infant Health
We are currently fundraising for live saving technology and equipment at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital. Our Hospital is in need of a new mammography machine in our Women's Imaging Center and new pieces of equipment in our Family Birth Center.
Cancer Center
SNMH's Community Cancer Center is a nationally accredited cancer center with a philosophy of treating the whole person and not just the disease. With cutting-edge technology, like the new Varian Linear Accelerator, and a variety of support groups, our Cancer Center is here for the patient and their family throughout their journey.
