Kirsten Dees has two decades of experience in nonprofit fundraising, advocacy, and strategic outreach. She currently leads marketing and communications at the Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Foundation, where she advances the organization’s mission through donor engagement, public relations, and community partnerships.
Kirsten holds a Master’s in Social Work from Boston University and a B.S. in Child and Family Development from San Diego State University. Throughout her career, she has held roles with the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Advocacy Coalition, the Washington State Democratic Campaign Committee, and Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest, where she developed a strong foundation in advocacy, community engagement, and organizational growth.
Deeply committed to Nevada County, Kirsten has served on the Community Beyond Violence Board of Directors since 2021 and became Board President in 2025. In 2026, she served as the Campaign Chair for Measure H, a $26 million bond that successfully passed to support the Nevada City School District. She is a graduate of the 2011 Institute for a Democratic Future Fellowship and Nevada County's 2021 Citizens' Academy. Additionally, she formerly served on the Deer Creek Elementary School Site Council and is currently a member of the Community Advisory Council for the Nevada County Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA).
