Moonlight Mammograms at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital
Made possible by a grant from the Barbara Schmidt Millar Fund at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital Foundation
A Relaxed, Meaningful Way to Prioritize Your Health
Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital is proud to once again host Moonlight Mammograms—a special screening event designed to offer women a calm, comfortable, and welcoming environment for their annual mammogram.
Since the program’s launch in 2006, more than 1,000 mammograms have been provided through this event, helping our community stay proactive about breast health.
Why It Matters
Mammography screening has been shown to reduce the risk of dying from breast cancer by nearly 50%. Annual mammograms are recommended starting at age 40—or earlier and more frequently for those at higher risk.
Yet, according to the CDC, only three-quarters of women aged 50–74 have had a mammogram in the past two years. Moonlight Mammograms aims to improve those numbers by making the process more accessible and inviting.
