There is nothing worse than struggling to breathe. Nearly 37 million Americans live with chronic lung issues such as asthma, COPD, emphysema and chronic bronchitis. To prepare for predicted long-term respiratory complications in our community from COVID-19 and other ongoing respiratory and lung disease challenges,
SNMH Foundation is raising $75,000 for pulmonary function testing (PFT) equipment.
Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospital provides care for approximately 500 patients annually. That number is expected to grow with anticipated long-term impacts from COVID-19. Pulmonary function tests determine how the lungs are functioning.
The PFT equipment is called Platinum Elite DX Plethysmograph. Funding supports the cost of equipment, hardware and software and training. Tests are interpreted by local physicians who specialize in this process. The PFT lab also provides testing to qualify those who require home oxygen or are in need of an overnight oxygen study.
