A New Mammography Machine

Regular mammograms help save lives by detecting breast cancer in its earliest stages. Over 4,000 patients rely on SNMH to provide mammogram screenings.

The SNMH Women’s Imaging Center is currently in need of a  new mammography machine.

During a mammogram, breasts are placed between two plastic plates. The plates move together to compress the breast so that an X-ray can be taken to show the inside of the breast.

While radiation in mammography is minimal, the new mammography machine will reduce it by 30%-40%. In addition, the new unit uses paddles for a comfortable fit.
